**Laws & Jail Time**

1. **Legal Basis:** All in-game laws are adapted from California law and modified to suit server roleplay standards.
2. **Jail Time:** Jail sentences are **not** based on real-life penalties and are determined within the server context.
3. **Officer Discretion:** Officers may adjust jail time based on roleplay quality. Good roleplay may result in reduced sentences, but no officer may exceed the maximum time specified in the Penal Code.
4. **Maximum Sentences:**
   * Standard maximum jail time: **3,000 seconds**
   * Staff override maximum: **7,000 seconds** (only enforceable by server staff under exceptional circumstances)
